We are truly grateful to the men and women who bravely serve in our nation’s military. The job they do is dangerous and often thankless and we are proud to support them both when they are actively serving and when they return home.

North Shore-LIJ is doing our part to support our military community. You may know that we are actively committed to recruiting and hiring veterans (including those with service-connected disabilities), separating active duty service members, National Guard Service members, Reservists and military spouses.  Find the right role at North Shore-LIJ for you!

What you may not know is that North Shore-LIJ provides a pay differential for all of our employees who are Reservists or members of the National Guard for their call of duty. This supplement pay helps ensure that the veterans’ service to our country does not create any undue economic hardship for their families. In 2011, the health system has awarded more than $760,000 in supplemental pay to 17 North Shore-LIJ employees who were deployed overseas on military leave.

The returning veterans in this video were honored and presented with their pay differential checks at a recent luncheon with North Shore-LIJ President and CEO, Michael Dowling.
